Rooted in the heart of East Toledo, our foundation exists to bring hope, opportunity, and education to children and families who need it most.
We are more than an organization — we are a family of people who care deeply about our neighborhood and its children. We believe that small acts of kindness, when multiplied, can transform entire communities.

Our Story
Founded by Nicolai Salgau and inspired by a lifelong belief in faith, hard work, and compassion, the Salgau Foundation began with a simple vision: to make a lasting difference in East Toledo through small, consistent, and meaningful acts of service.
What started as a dream inside the historic building of the former Lutheran Church at 617 Nevada Street has grown into a local center for encouragement and learning — a place where children feel seen, supported, and inspired.
The Foundation was established not by wealth or resources, but by faith and determination. We have no large staff, no budget for big campaigns — but we have open hearts, open doors, and a deep desire to serve.

Even with limited means, Salgau Foundation creates real impact through simple, people-centered programs and community outreach:
- Educational Support: Helping children strengthen their academic skills and confidence through tutoring and mentorship.
- Job Readiness & Life Skills: Guiding teens and young adults to prepare for the workforce with practical training and leadership development.
- Entrepreneurship for Kids: Encouraging creativity and independence through small business and problem-solving projects.
- Community Connection: Offering a safe and welcoming space for reflection, learning, and fellowship — where every person feels valued.
